Chinese Vacuum Maker Plots a Bugatti-Rivalling EV

"It's probably going to suck."

Yes, it's a "dad joke", but not a new one; similarly snarky comments were circulating eight years ago when Britain's Dyson — best known for their pricey and innovative vacuum cleaners — announced plans to launch a premium EV in 2020 with a £2.5 billion investment. After bringing a former Infiniti chief and former Aston Martin chief engineer onboard and developing a vehicle that, in retrospect, sounds a lot like the Lucid Gravity, the program was scrapped in 2019 (costing billionaire James Dyson about £500 million of his own money).

Now, a Chinese robot vacuum maker has already hired 1,000 employees to develop a Bugatti-rivaling hypercar to launch in 2027. Before you dismiss this as vaporware, remember that Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi brought a world-class EV sedan to market in only three years while Apple dithered for ten years on "Project Titan" — so don't be surprised if this actually comes to pass...
