Genesis Heads Way Offroad

If you thought the offroad-oriented Genesis X Gran Equator concept from last year's New York Auto Show was perhaps a bit of a stretch for the brand, then this will come as an even bigger shock. Not entirely dissimilar to the Project Origine all-terrain hypercar that was recently announced, the X Skorpio is a more extreme counterpart to the Porsche 911 Dakar and Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato.

With a tubular frame, an instrument cluster integrated into the steering wheel, laser-cut suede upholstery, a 1,100-horsepower V8 and 40" tires, Genesis is not playing around here.

Recall that, over the past year, we've seen Genesis venture into offroading, supercars and motorsports, global expansion, and bespoke capability—and dabble in both pickups and MPVs. Although they got off to a bumpy start, they seem to have recovered and clearly have the big three German brands in their sights.
