Go, MG!

The MG Go concept is positioned as a stylish small electric hatch that channels the spirit of classic MG performance icons while previewing the forthcoming MG2. Designed in London and aimed at fashionable rivals such as the VW ID.Polo, Mini Cooper, and Renault 5, it appears intended less as a budget EV and more as a characterful, image-led model that could become a new brand icon, though MG has not yet revealed its interior or technical specifications.

WHY IT MATTERS: MG continues to grow in Europe, leveraging its heritage and moving away from budget-minded vehicles into more fashion-oriented entries—and they may have the cachet to take on big names like Mini and Renault.

THE BOTTOM LINE: With a brand rich in heritage and increasingly competitive products, MG has a reason to be optimistic in Europe.

MG’s Flagship SUV

The MG Cyber is a midsize, five-seat SUV coupe that appears to signal MG’s ambitions for a more expressive and premium future. With proportions that draw some comparison to the Ferrari Purosangue, it has not yet been confirmed for production and may ultimately remain focused on China, but its role is clearly to act as a statement of intent for where the brand’s design and product strategy could be headed.

WHY IT MATTERS: As MG’s brand image strengthens, they can afford to get into more profitable segments, so this is a logical move upmarket for them.

THE BOTTOM LINE: MG is smart playing this close to the vest; there’s no rush to get into this segment as they continue to upgrade their portfolio

Hot CLA-Class

The Mercedes-AMG CLA will be the first high-performance model based on Mercedes’ new MMA architecture, offered in sedan and wagon forms with AMG-specific styling, active aero, and a heavily upgraded four-seat interior. Its tri-motor Yasa powertrain, large 94kWh battery, heat pump, and predictive performance management promise both serious speed and usable range, while AMGForce sound, simulated gearshifts, vibrating seats, stronger brakes, and a rear-biased 671hp layout aim to preserve the drama and engagement of a combustion AMG in an electric format.

WHY IT MATTERS: Boosting AMG volume is a key part of Mercedes strategy, and that includes both EV and ICE variants. Although there’s not much cosmetic difference, Mercedes is making the kind of technology upgrades that AMG buyers expect, putting BMW M and Audi RS on notice.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Faster, cooler, and more fun to drive—but perhaps more visual punch is needed to distinguish this very capable sport sedan.

Alpine’s Future

The Alpine A110 Future previews the next-generation electric A110 by pairing current A110 bodywork with Alpine’s new Performance Platform. Its 800V layout, dual battery packs split across the axles, rear-mounted motors, silicon carbide hardware, and active torque vectoring are all intended to preserve Alpine’s lightweight, agile character despite a targeted curb weight around 3,300 pounds, while the packaging allows a low profile, roughly 300 miles of range, and enough thermal stamina to complete three Nürburgring laps without performance derating.

WHY IT MATTERS: This new platform plays a key role in Alpine’s future halo vehicles, the A110 and A310, which are intended to help bolster the brand’s performance image.

THE BOTTOM LINE: So far, APP appears to have the ingredients need to create a competitive and capable zero-emissions sports car.

Pint-Sized Track Toy

The McMurtry Spéirling is an extreme single-seat electric track car that has been substantially reworked despite its earlier Goodwood appearance, with the latest version now described as 95 percent new. Priced around $1.6 million and producing 1,000hp, it combines improved comfort, steering, durability, and usability with its defining fan-assisted ground-effect system, which generates about 4,400 pounds of downforce and enables extraordinary 3g cornering; with 25 cars already sold, proprietary battery technology, a new Gloucestershire factory, and owner events, McMurtry is also building a lifestyle around the car as much as the machine itself.

WHY IT MATTERS: Insanely brilliant technology at absurd prices isn’t limited to internal combustion vehicles.

THE BOTTOM LINE: The ultimate niche racer

Velar Rebooted

The next Range Rover Velar is expected to be JLR’s first model on the new EMA architecture, a platform whose strategy has shifted between multienergy and EV-only before returning to a flexible approach. Aimed at rivals such as the BMW iX3, Volvo EX60, and Mercedes GLC, it is expected to adopt a lower, more coupelike stance and potentially even omit a rear window to improve rear headroom, while its 800V electrical system, UK-built cell-to-pack battery, in-house motors, silicon carbide inverter, and efficiency gains over the Jaguar I-Pace point to a major technological reset for Range Rover’s midsize luxury SUV offering.

WHY IT MATTERS: EMA is critical to Land Rover’s future, and the decision to retrofit internal combustion hardware is costly but likely necessary given recent market corrections. The redefined Velar—or whatever it’s called—has the potential to become Range Rover’s new style icon.

THE BOTTOM LINE: With a unique, more carlike profile and the EV hardware highlighted so far, the new Velar is likely to be a highly competitive entry.
