Mercedes-AMG Goes For Triple Screens

I confess, I was a little disappointed to see the first photos of the interior the still-clumsily-named Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. Yes, the quilted leather, carbon fiber, jet-engine vents, projection-screen glass roof, and ambient lighting are cool. The three rotary knobs to control the performance software are a nice addition, too.
Unfortunately, the instrument panel looks like just about any other three-screen setup on the market — and, in the process, takes away the physical climate controls and puts them back on the screen.
While I think Ferrari may have gone a bit too far with the Luce (whose interior I find intriguing but not Ferrari-appropriate), I think Mercedes missed an opportunity here to redefine performance EV interiors. This simply looks like a Superscreen interior with the center screen angled towards the driver, and I think it could have been so much more.
I do look forward to the full reveal and the accompanying performance EV technology, though — especially those axial flux motors.
